About JC Maintenance
How it started
JC Maintenance & Contracting was started by Justin Cordwell in 2024. After 15 years with TasWater—eight as a licensed plumber and the last stretch managing a team of 62 as Southern Networks Manager—Justin was ready for a change.
The business built itself naturally from there, driven by what homeowners actually needed: someone who could handle the whole job, not just one piece of it.
Before TasWater, Justin completed a three-year traineeship at the Botanical Gardens and a plumbing apprenticeship in Lauderdale. He holds qualifications in both horticulture and plumbing, plus a Diploma in Leadership & Management. It's a mix that comes in handy when a job needs both technical know-how and practical problem-solving.
The one-stop-shop approach
Most maintenance contractors specialise in one thing. We do the opposite. Whether it's garden, excavations, household repairs, or irrigation, we handle it in-house. And for the trades we don't cover—electrical, plastering, painting, concreting—we work with a trusted network of contractors who step in when needed.
That means no chasing multiple quotes, no coordinating different tradespeople, no wondering who's responsible for what. One call, sorted.
The team
Justin oversees all the work, but he's not doing it alone. The team includes Lochie, Jaimie, Nathan (maintenance labourers) and Jenny (cleaners and labourer), all bringing hands-on experience across landscaping, property restoration, and general maintenance. It's a small crew that gets a lot done.
Who we work with
We're proud to be NDIS certified and a maintenance provider for Homes Tasmania, Respect Aged Care, and a preferred contractor for the Public Trustee and Pretrusma Property. We work with clients who need that extra care, and we take that responsibility seriously.
Where we work
We cover Greater Hobart and much of Southern Tasmania—from Maydena to Margate, up to the Southern Midlands, across the Tasman Peninsula, and throughout the Huon Valley. If you're wondering whether we service your area, give us a call. We're more than happy to travel.
Giving back
In 2025, we coordinated a major backyard transformation for young Ruben, who was recently diagnosed with HSP (Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia). With help from local contractors and businesses across Hobart, we turned an inaccessible yard into a space where Ruben could move freely and independently. Projects like this remind us why we do what we do.
